"What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas"

Dear Peanut Pals,

Can you believe it is August already! Hope everyone has been enjoying the Summer of 2010!

There is exciting news to share with you regarding our future Conventions. Scott and Angel Schmitz have volunteered to host the 2011 National Convention – in either the Washington, D.C. or Baltimore, MD area – hopefully they will have more information regarding the dates and locations for the September/October Newsletter. And John and Janeann Lokken of Mountaintop, PA have volunteered to host the 2012 National Convention – possibly in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton/Hazleton, PA area – we will pass on to you any further details they have to share with us.

Joe Stivaletti will host the 2010 Eastern Mini Convention on October 16th – registration and further details have been included in the July/August Newsletter. The Midwest/Central 2011 Mini Convention will be hosted by Earl and Annette Anderson in Moline, IL and in 2012 by Mike and Shelley King in Holland, MI. Details and information will be included in future newsletters and on the website.

THANK YOU to our members who volunteer to host either a National or a Mini Convention! We hope there are more Club members who have been contemplating this “adventure” in the future; if so, there are 2 documents available to help you with this experience: A “Guideline for Hosting a National Convention” prepared by the Executive Board, and a “Primer for Hosting a National Convention” prepared by Anthony Scola. So, take a little time, Peanut Pals, and consider hosting a future National Convention – then let me know – you won’t regret it!

Mr. Scott Marcus (Kraft, Inc. Senior Brand Manager/Planters Division) contacted me to share with you how much he appreciated the warm welcome we gave to Mr. Steve Dumas who attended the National Convention and gave that very informative presentation they had prepared. They both so appreciated receiving the convention commemorative items, the “first-time attendee” gift bags from the Executive Board, and the opportunity to learn more about “Peanut Pals”.

I wanted to share with you that our new Peanut Pal Member, and resident artist (who painted 20 original oil paintings used as the centerpieces for the 2010 National Convention Banquet), gave us an original Mr. Peanut “Welcome” oil painting that we will display at future conventions AND sent an original oil painting to Mr. Scott Marcus at Kraft, Inc./Planters on behalf of the Club as a “thank you” for their continued support of our Club….Scott emailed me that he was thrilled to receive this special gift and had delegated to Steve Dumas the job of finding a place of honor to hang this special painting. THANK YOU DAWN!

Rhonda Johnson (Editor), Rick Johnson (Webmaster), and now Bill Osey (Webmaster Elect) are always looking for items for the Newsletter and the Website….please share your photos, stories, or expertise on “all things Mr. Peanut” with the membership by contacting them. Remember, this is your Club…if you have any ideas to share, suggestions to make, or concerns to be addressed, please feel free to contact me or any other Club Officer! Hope to see you soon at our planned functions! ENJOY THE REMAINDER OF THE SUMMER OF 2010!

     Your Pal,

      Lyle
