Dear Peanut Pals,
HAPPY
NEW
YEAR! Hope everyone enjoyed the
Holidays…and had plenty of Planters Products on hand for
your guests! Hopefully Santa filled your stocking with that SPECIAL
Mr. Peanut item you have been wishing for! And hopefully you
were able to collect all 3 new Planters Holiday Tins!
Now that 2012 has arrived,
it’s time to make plans to attend our scheduled Peanut Pal
gatherings! The 2012
Midwest/Central Mini Convention – hosted by
Mike & Shelley King - is scheduled for April
27-28 in South
Haven, Michigan at the Ramada Lighthouse Inn
& Conference Center. Information and registration forms
are included in the newsletter and on this Website–make
your hotel reservations and send in your registration –
this event is always fun! If you can, please donate items
for the raffles – this activity helps in defraying costs
incurred. And who knows what “treasure” you may find
during Room Hopping, the Swap Meet and the Auction!
Now keep the calendar handy because
you’ll need to make plans to attend the 33rd
National Convention in
Wilkes-Barre,
Pennsylvania
– July 8-12. The Hosts (John and Janeann Lokken)
have been working diligently to plan an exciting event –
they have allowed ample time to do some sightseeing (there
is SO MUCH to see and do in the “birthplace of Planters
Nut & Chocolate Company!), an “old fashioned picnic”
at their lakeside home, and a planned tour that includes a
museum, Steamtown, and an Electric Trolley ride! (if you are
planning to attend and participate in this activity, space
is limited – it will be first
come/first served -
so don’t wait too long to get your registration in!).
As always, the usual functions will be held (Room Hopping,
Swap Meet, Silent Auction, Auction, Banquet and
Entertainment, social time in the Hospitality Suite); and
the hosts are hoping some of our Peanut Pals will donate Mr.
Peanut and Planters items for the planned raffles. Sherwin
& Ruth Borsuk have volunteered to present a Workshop
Session on Trolley Signs – join in and share your
knowledge and expertise. Additional information and the
registration form are included in the newsletter and on this
Website. Plan
ahead and make your reservations early!
We also have commitments for the
following future National Conventions:
-
2013
National Convention – Tom
Holbrook -
Charleston,
West Virginia
-
2014
National Convention – Sherwin
& Ruth Borsuk
,
Connecticut
.
We will look forward to more
information in the future as these hosts make convention
arrangements. We encourage our fellow Peanut Pals to take
advantage of all of these great opportunities to get
together with folks who share our common interest and to
“relax and just go nuts”!
Unfortunately, as the New Year was about to dawn, we
received the sad news that our fellow Peanut Pal Gary
Melser passed away. We extend to the Melser Family our
sincerest condolences and will keep them in our thoughts and
prayers. We Peanut Pals have so many memories of great times
with
Gary
– we will miss him when we gather at our functions, but
those memories will keep him with us!
Remember, this is your Club…if you
have any ideas to share, suggestions to make, or concerns to
be addressed, please fee free to contact me or any other
Club Officer! Rhonda Johnson (Editor), and Bill Osey
(Webmaster) are always looking for items for the Newsletter
and the Website….please share your photos, stories, or
expertise on “all things Mr. Peanut” with the membership
by contacting them. Hope to see you soon at our planned
functions!
The Augustine’s hope your 2012 is safe, healthy, happy and
“nutty”!
Your Pal,
Lyle
