The Peanut Pals website received this email from Ed O'Donnell, who lives in Wilkes-Barre. This is what he wrote:

"The front page of the May 26, 2011 Times-Leader ushered in childhood memories. When as young lads down on Public Square with my mother, we would sneak away to tap on Mr. Peanut's shell only to be admonished by our mother "Don't you dare torment Mr. Peanut"....and the story of how Mr. Obici would stay overnight at grandmother O'Donnell's home on Oak Street after a busy day of selling peanuts around town. (Home is still there and in grand shape)"
